Listing a space
Got a car space that sits empty? Whether it’s in a driveway, an apartment building, a commercial car park or a lock-up garage, you can rent it out on Find a Car Park and earn some extra income.
Who can list a parking space?
Anyone who has a car space allocated to them, whether you own your home, rent it or have a space at work.
If the space is in an apartment complex or another strata-titled building, check with your body corporate first. If you rent your home, check with your landlord too.
What types of car park can I list?
All of them: open-air spaces, driveways, secure undercover spaces and lock-up garages. We also list spaces for commercial car parks, venues and businesses.
How much does it cost to list my space?
A one-off fee of $14.95 + GST lists your space for 12 months. We don’t charge a monthly commission, so the rent you agree is yours to keep. See pricing for details.
Why list my parking space on Find a Car Park?
It’s an easy way to earn extra income from a space you’re not using, whether it helps with your rent or mortgage or goes towards something else.
You’re also helping someone find reliable parking, avoid fines and spend less time looking for a park.
How do I list my car park?
All you need is a spare space and about five minutes. Choose List your space, enter the address, describe the space, set your price and add photos, then pay the listing fee. Your listing goes live straight away.
How much can I rent my car park for?
You set the price. Location makes the biggest difference, followed by convenience and security. Spaces near the CBD, train stations, entertainment precincts or universities are worth more.
Our price guides show what spaces rent for in each suburb. It also helps to compare nearby listings and the cost of commercial or metered parking. To attract drivers, make your space a better deal than the alternatives.
How do I connect with drivers?
Interested drivers send you a question or a request to rent through your listing. Each one arrives by email and in your enquiries, and you reply to them directly.
Talk through access times, the bond and payment terms. You decide who you rent to.
How do I get paid?
The driver pays you directly. You agree the price, how they pay (for example cash or bank transfer) and how often (for example weekly or monthly). Find a Car Park doesn’t take a cut.
How does this income affect my tax?
Talk to your accountant or tax adviser about how the income affects your tax return.
How do I stop my listing?
Sign in and go to My listings. Choose Mark as rented once your space is taken, or Unlist if you no longer want to rent it out. You can relist at no cost until the listing period ends.
My space is no longer available. How do I tell the driver?
Contact the driver directly using the details you exchanged. Tell them the last day the space is available, and settle any rent or bond that’s owing.
