For renters

Renting a space

Find a Car Park connects people who need a parking space with owners of private and commercial spaces. Whether you need a space where you live, work or study, here’s how renting one works.

Why rent a parking space through Find a Car Park?

You get your own space in the right spot, often for less than commercial or metered parking, on terms you agree directly with the owner. Searching, asking questions and requesting a space are all free.

Every car in a private space is also one less circling the block looking for a park.

How do I choose the right car park?

Every space in the search results is available now, so you won’t waste time on spaces that are already taken. Compare spaces on price, location and features such as undercover or lock-up parking.

Our price guides show what spaces usually cost in each suburb. If nothing suits yet, set up an email alert from the search results and we’ll let you know when a matching space is listed.

How do I contact the owner and secure the space?

Open the listing and use the form beside it:

  • Ask a question if you’d like to know more about the space.
  • Request to rent to tell the owner you want it and when you’d like to start.

Your message goes straight to the owner by email, and they reply to you directly. Some owners also show their phone number or email address on the listing.

If you haven’t heard back within two business days, send us a message and we’ll help you get in touch.

How do I pay the owner?

You pay the owner directly, not Find a Car Park. Once you’ve agreed the price, bond and payment terms, pay the way you’ve both agreed, for example by bank transfer each month.

Put the agreement in writing, and ask for a receipt for the bond and each payment.

I no longer need the space. What should I do?

Contact the owner directly using the details you exchanged when you enquired. Tell them your last day, give the notice your agreement asks for, and settle any rent that’s still owing.
